LAFAYETTE, La.-- The UT Arlington men's tennis team (2-1) is set to compete in the Cajun Tennis Classic at the Cajun Tennis Courts from Friday to Saturday.

Their first match will be after the 8:30 a.m. match on Friday finishes against New Orleans. If UTA wins, they will face the winner of Texas A&M- Corpus Christi and Southern Mississippi, not before 1 p.m. The semifinals and finals are set for Saturday, with play starting at 9:30 a.m.

The other teams competing include: Louisiana, North Alabama, Tyler Junior College and WAC opponent UT Rio Grande Valley.

The Mavericks are coming off of a strong weekend, earning the first two wins of the spring season over Prairie View A&M and Southeastern Oklahoma. The Mavs defeated the Panthers 4-1 and Southeastern Oklahoma 6-1 to move to the win column.

Dante Teramo is heading into the weekend as WAC Player of the Week. He picked up his first two singles wins of the spring season, defeating Prairie View 6-1, 6-0 and Southeastern Oklahoma in an exciting tiebreaker, 6-2, 6-7 (8), 10-4 at the No. 1 position.

Newcomers
Pedro Sasso and
Andres Medus hold a 2-0 record as a doubles team at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. They earned their first victory over Prairie View in a tiebreaker 7-6 (1), and followed with a 6-0 win over Southeastern Oklahoma.

SCOUTING NEW ORLEANS
The Privateers are 0-1 in the spring season so far. The Mavs hold a 1-1 record with the Privateers, going 1-1 head to head. Their last meeting was in 2009, with New Orleans earning a close 4-3 victory.
