FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Despite totaling 13 hits on the day, the UT Arlington softball team struggled to execute in day one of the three-day Razorback Invitational Friday from Bogle Park.
Camille Corona and
Lindsey Franklin batted .500 as the pair put up multi-hit contests – Corona with her fourth of the year and Franklin with her third.
With back-to-back losses against Illinois State and No. 14 Arkansas, the Mavericks move on to an overall record of 3-9.

Out of the seven total hits, UTA's Franklin (1-3),
Jessica Adams (1-2),
Kaitlyn Sailor (1-2),
Morgan Westbrook (1-1) and
Kaylee Cavazos (1-3) collected hits.
Adams earned her fourth start of the season against Illinois State and went on to toss 3.1 innings of work, allowing three earned runs off nine hits. In her appearance, the junior didn't walk a single batter across 18 faced.
Lefty
Emilie Hoelscher came in for the Mavs in the bottom of the fourth and threw the remainder of the game.
Unfortunately, UTA could not find a way to plate any across giving Adams her fourth loss of the season.

Franklin and Corona collected multi-hit efforts against the ranked Razorback as both finished 2-3. The Mavericks' bats produced six hits with
Kaylee Cavazos and
Cameron Cooper contributing with one hit a piece.
Abi Gutierrez,
Jade Moreno and Hoelscher all shared time in the circle for the Mavericks with Gutierrez getting the start – her first of the season.
Moreno and Hoelscher allowed three earned runs with Gutierrez limiting Arkansas to one.
Although UTA totaled six hits on the Razorbacks, it wasn't enough leaving five runners on. Lefty Gutierrez was handed the loss.
ON DECK
UTA will begin day two of the Razorback Invitational with a 10 a.m. start against Illinois State followed by a 12:30 p.m. game against Wichita State from Bogle Park on Saturday, Feb. 24.
