Mavericks Travel To Seattle For Final Regular Season Match Against Redhawks

SEATTLE– The UT Arlington men's tennis team (9-7, 3-0 WAC) is set to travel to Seattle to take on Seattle University at the Amy Yee Tennis Center on Sunday at 11 a.m. CST. The Mavericks have already secured a share of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular season title after their defeat of UT Rio Grande Valley on Friday.
 
The Mavs defeated the Vaqueros 5-2 in their final home match of the spring. The victory puts the Mavericks at 3-0 in WAC play as they have defeated Grand Canyon 4-3 and Abilene Christian 6-1.
 
In singles action, freshman Andres Medus has been impressive at the Court 5 position. He remains undefeated in conference play with a 3-0 record after defeating the Vaqueros in straight sets. He also earned his tenth win of the season as he sits at 10-4 overall.
 
Meethre Barot has also been solid in his first year as a Maverick as he holds a 3-0 WAC record on Court 4. In his victory over UTRGV, he took down his opponent in a tight three-set match 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. His overall record is 9-5 on the season.
 
Joan Torres Espinosa still sits at No. 88 in the nation per the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) rankings. He took his first loss of the spring against UTRGV but still holds a 9-1 record in dual match play.
 
In doubles action, WAC Doubles Team of the Week Solano Caffarena and Pedro Sasso earned their second win as a pair over UTRGV. They earned their first win over Abilene Christian 6-3 then followed up with a close 7-6 (4) victory over the Vaqueros.
 
SCOUTING SEATTLE
The Redhawks hold a 4-12 overall record and are 1-2 in WAC play. In conference action, they defeated UTRGV and lost to Abilene Christian and Grand Canyon. The Mavs hold a 2-0 record over the Redhawks after their most recent meeting in 2023. In their 2023 regular season match, the Mavs earned a strong 6-1 victory.
