ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The UT Arlington Maverick baseball fell to the Grand Canyon Lopes in the third game of the series 7-4 to drop the series, two games to one.
GAME FLOW
The Lopes struck first for the third-straight game, taking an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning and scored 3 more runs to extend its lead to 4-0 throughout the first three innings.
The Mavs got on the board in the bottom of the 4th inning after
Parker Airhart roped an RBI double down the right-field line to plate
Tyson Pointer, and
Kyzer Harrington scored
Ryan Ellis, who reached base on a walk and was advanced to third on Airhart's double, to cut the Lopes lead to just 4-2.
In the bottom of the 5th, the Mavs were able to tie the game at 4 runs a piece after Pointer recorded an RBI single to plate
JD Moreno, who reached second base after a wild pitch, to plate the first run. Pointer was able to steal second base and was brought in by
Ryan Ellis after a single down the right-field line to tie the game, 4-4.
The Lopes took control of the game in the top of the 8th inning by scoring three runs to jump out to a 7-4 advantage, which is where the game stayed.
PITCHING PROFILE
Caden Noah, who was tabbed as the starter, pitched for 3.2 innings and rang up 2 batters. The Longview, Texas native allowed just one walk and seven hits in the 19 batters he faced.
Nicholas Robb, who came in as a relief pitcher in the 4th inning, also recorded 2 strikeouts and was able to allow just 3 hits and no walks.
Joe Steeber pitched for 1.2 innings and punched out one batter on strikes and only gave up 3 hits in the 10 batters he faced.

The Mavericks will host the Baylor Bears in a midweek game on Tuesday, Apr. 16, at 6 p.m. at Clay Gould Ballpark.
