NORMAN, Okla.-- The UT Arlington men's tennis team (12-7) seeks revenge against No. 11 Oklahoma in their opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 1 p.m. For their second meeting this season, the match will take place at the Headington Tennis Center.

The Mavericks are coming off their second consecutive Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular season and tournament championships. They went undefeated against conference opponents, finishing on a 6-0 winning streak heading into the tournament.

WAC Player of the Year and No. 110 ranked
Joan Torres Espinosa is heading into his second NCAA tournament with a 17-4 overall record. He finished 11-2 in dual match play and went 3-1 in WAC matches. After the WAC tournament, he landed a spot on the All-Tournament Team as well as finished the regular season as a All-WAC First Team selection.

Dante Teramo had an impressive WAC Tournament showing as well as he finished the weekend with the Most Outstanding Player honors. In the Mavs' semifinal match, he clinched the victory on Court 2, where he took down UTRGV's Ivo Isquerio in a three-set thriller. Also a All-WAC Second Team selection, he heads into the NCAA Tournament with a 14-12 overall record.

Freshman
Andres Medus made an immediate impact for the Mavericks after finishing off the regular season 12-5 overall and 5-1 against conference opponents. He was the difference maker in the Mavs' tight final against Grand Canyon as he clinched the match on Court 4 in the deciding set. He also secured a spot on the WAC All-Tournament Team.

In doubles action, Teramo and Medus still remain undefeated as they carry a 4-0 dual match record into the tournament. As a team, they went undefeated against conference opponents after their most recent win over Grand Canyon in the tournament finals.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA
The Sooners earned a No. 11 seed as they head into the tournament with a 20-4 overall record. They currently have two ranked singles players, one ranked doubles team and are No. 10 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings. In the Mav's first match of the spring season, they fell 4-0 to the Sooners in Oklahoma. They hold a 3-8 overall record after their last meeting. Their most recent win was in 2002 at the UTA Tennis Center.
