UTA Athletics Announces 2023-24 Scholar & Student-Athletes Of The Year

ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington Department of Athletics officials announced the female and male winners of the prestigious B.G. Wilson Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Maverick Club Student-Athlete of the Year awards for 2023-24.
 
B.G. Wilson Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Mollie Blank (Volleyball)
B.G. Wilson Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Brady Shadrick (Track & Field) 
Maverick Club Female Student-Athlete of the Year: Alli Wells (Volleyball)
Maverick Club Male Student-Athlete of the Year: Randon Gray (Track & Field)
 
B.G. WILSON SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Presented to a female and male student-athlete who best epitomize the 'student-first' and 'athlete-second' mantra. The award is named for former baseball player B.G. Wilson, who played for the Mavs from 1993-96, was an Academic All-American and a widely respected youth mentor who gave countless hours to support the Arlington community.
 
MOLLIE BLANK
Having just completed her undergraduate degree in University Studies, Blank carries a 3.8 cumulative GPA. She is returning as a grad student to pursue her Master's Degree in Public Administration. Blank was a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.
 
On the court, Blank distributed a season best 52 assists against McNeese. She finished with a season best 14 digs against SFA while adding a career best eight double-doubles. She produced double digit assists in all but one match.
 
BRADY SHADRICK
Shadrick just completed his junior year and holds a 3.8 cumulative GPA while working towards his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science.
 
On the track, Shadrick won bronze medals in the heptathlon at the WAC Indoor Championships and in the decathlon at the WAC Outdoor Championships. He placed ninth in a crowded field in the decathlon at the highly touted Texas Relays.
 
MAVERICK CLUB STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Presented to a female and male senior student-athlete who have demonstrated commitment to academics and excellence in their respective sport.
 
ALLI WELLS
After completing her undergrad in Public Health, Wells was a graduate student-athlete this past season and is pursuing her Master's of Science in Health. Boasting a 3.9 cumulative GPA, Wells was selected to the All-WAC Academic Team and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.
 
Wells concluded her storied UTA career by becoming the program's all-time career digs leader with 2092. Over 133 career outings, she produced 104 matches with double-digit digs, with eight of those games tallying at least 30 digs. She produced five matches with double-digit aces while tallying a career-high 123 assists on the season.
 
RANDON GRAY
A university studies major, Gray is heading into his fifth year donning the orange and blue.
 
A career-year for Gray, he set the school record in the pole vault during indoor season with a mark of 5.37m which won him the gold medal at the WAC Indoor Championships. During outdoor season, Gray secured the silver medal at the WAC Outdoor Championships in the pole vault with a mark of 5.13m. Heading into the season, Gray reached the 5-meter mark once in his career, but this season he eclipsed the 5-meter mark on 11 separate occasions.
