ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington cross country teams will open up the 2024 campaign on Saturday, August 31, as they travel down I-30 for the second annual John McKenzie Invitational hosted by TCU.
The collegiate women's 5k is slated to begin at 7:45 a.m. with the men's 5k to follow at 8:15 a.m.
The Mavericks will be joined by host TCU, Sam Houston, WAC foe Tarleton State, Harden-Simmons, Texas Wesleyan, Wiley and Odessa College.
"Just looking forward to getting started," said Head Coach John Sauerhage. "Just compete and measure fitness this first meet."

Matro Jepkemboi. Second Team All-Conference performers in
Winnie Kipsang and
Mercy Biwott also return for the Mavs. Juniors,
Rachael Hartley,
Krianne McBride and
Lauren Walls-Portillo look to build off their success from a season ago while five newcomers look to make their Mavs debut.
The men enter 2024 with seven returners, including Second Team All-Conference performers
Patrick Estes and
Rogelio Aguirre. Top five finishers from last season's WAC Cross Country Championships,
Josue Granados,
Jackson Cichon and Andrés Gurrola return for the Mavs while five newcomers look to make their debut donning the blue and orange. Transfer
Daniel Armstrong is ready for his first cross country season with the Mavs, as he competed in the indoor and outdoor seasons this past school year.
The men's team come into the season ranked ninth while the women enter ranked 11th in the South Central Region of the Preseason Regional Rankings Poll released by USTFCCCA earlier this week.
