Ford Moves Into Top 5 In Career Kills As Mavs Defeat Lancers In Five Sets

RIVERSIDE, CA- The UT Arlington volleyball team defeated the California Baptist Lancers 3-2 (25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 25-27, 15-8) at the Van Dyme Arena this Saturday for its second win in conference play. Brianna Ford secured her spot in Mavericks history with a 26-kill outing in the win and now has 1,505 career kills, tied for the fourth most in program history.

Ford, a graduate student, had a season-high for points with 31.5 in the win. The Amarillo, Texas native poured in 26 kills, six total blocks and two service aces while hitting at a .408 percentage, the highest in a match since her .467 mark against Jackson State on Aug. 31.

The Mavericks offense had 64 kills in the five-set match, with Ford accounting for 26 of those. Paige Reagor poured in 15 kills while Cansu Günaydin recorded a season-high 12 kills in the win.

Mollie Blank had a double-double with 50 assists and 13 digs while Samantha Glenn had a season-high 24 digs and eight assists in the five-set victory.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH
"This was a gutsy team win against a very balanced team," said head coach J.T. Wenger. "We had an excellent defensive performance from Samantha Glenn that kept us in the play, and Brianna Ford took some fantastic swings to produce at a high clip. Proud of this team in how they came together to get the win."

NEXT UP
The Mavericks return to Arlington for a conference battle against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. at the College Park Center. The match will feature a free nacho bar for the first 100 students who attend the match.
