ARLINGTON, TEXAS - The UT Arlington volleyball team defeated the Santa Clara Broncos in a 3-2 win (24-26) (25-15) (16-25) (25-19) (15-13) in the first match of the UTA Classic this Friday. The win marked the squad's fourth straight win to start the season.
The Mavericks were in a back and forth battle all night against the Broncos, however the Mavs 57 kills proved to be the difference.
Brianna Ford, a native of Amarillo, Texas, accounted for 25 of the teams kill's, which ties a career-high. Ford also nabbed 14 digs in the match for her first double-double of the season.
Mollie Blank recorded 44 assists in the win while
Samantha Glenn picked up 6.
Sjakkie Donkers made her collegiate debut and played in four sets. The native of Netherlands picked up 7 kills and 5 digs in the win.

"Very proud of the way we finished the game," said head coach
J.T. Wenger. "It was a very back and forth game against a good team. The way our team came together at the end was special, and a win like this will go a long way throughout the season when we have our backs against the wall. Great win, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the UTA Classic."
NEXT UP
The Mavericks are right back on the court inside the College Park Center tomorrow at 6 p.m. for a matchup against the McNeese Cowgirls. Before the match, UL-Monroe and Santa Clara will play at 3 p.m.
