ESPN+ and on the radio on the Varsity app, as well as 102.5 FM and KTNO 620 AM with the Voice of the Mavs, Josh Sours. Utah Tech fell 61-54 at Tarleton State on Thursday night and UTA looks to avenge a 74-62 loss to the Trailblazers back on Jan. 9 in St. George, Utah.
The Mavs have won three straight and are coming off of an exciting 70-68 home win over Southern Utah in which guard
Brody Robinson continued his torrid form, scoring 20 points, posting a career-high-tying 10 assists and pulling down five rebounds. Forward/center
Lance Ware tied a career high in points with 26, and also grabbed six boards, posted two assists and had a pair of steals in the win.
Robinson is averaging 13.0 ppg and 9.7 apg in his last three, while Ware has registered double-doubles in three of his past four contests.
UTA's next opponent, Utah Tech, is 6-15 with a 2-4 WAC record following a 61-54 road loss at Tarleton State on Thursday night.
The Trailblazers are led by head coach Jon Judkins, who is in his 20th season as the head coach in St. George, where he is 337-219 across his 20 campaigns, 19 of which are at the D1 level. Judkins was also the head coach at Snow College for 12 seasons.
Utah Tech is led by guard Beon Riley, who is averaging a team-high 14.2 ppg and 7.9 rpg. Guard Noa Gonsalves (13.7 ppg) is another key fixture for the Trailblazers. In the first meeting between the two it was Gonsalves who scored a game-high 24 points on 6-of-8 from distance, who did the most damage for Utah Tech. Fellow guard Hakim Byrd also had a monster performance, hitting 5-of-7 from three-point range and finishing with 21.
Saturday's meeting between UTA and Utah Tech will be the fifth all-time, with Utah Tech having won the last meeting earlier this year, 74-62 in St. George on Jan. 9. UTA won each of the three previous meetings.
