Cross Country Gears Up for Final Regular Season Meet

COLLEGE STATION – The UT Arlington cross country teams gear up for the final meet of the regular season at Texas A&M's Arturo Barrios Invitational on Friday, Oct. 17 from Watts Cross Country Course.

The collegiate men's 8k is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. with the women's 6k immediately following at 9:15 a.m.
 
Aside from UTA and Texas A&M, the field will consist of Abilene Christian, Arkansas State, Baylor, Houston, Incarnate Word, Lamar, LeTourneau, Louisiana, LSU, McNeese State, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, Nelson University, New Mexico State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Dakota, North Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma (W), Oklahoma City, Our Lady of the Lake, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU (W), Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulsa (W), UT Rio Grande Valley, UTEP, UTSA and Wake Forest (W).
  
Freshman Dorcas Jepkosgei has been a standout athlete in head coach John Sauerhage's lineup this season as the newcomer set a new 5k all-time best of 16:09.5 in UTA program history back at Arkansas' prestigious Chile Pepper Festival two weeks ago. There, the women's squad placed sixth with 229 points as junior Matro Jepkemboi followed Jepkosgei with an eighth-place finish, capturing a time of 16:47.2. The veteran shaved off 16 seconds, setting a new personal record. 
 
Jepkosgei has racked up two second place finishes and one first place finish so far this season which came from the Texas A&M Invitational last month.
 
The men's team is led by sophomore Toby Eaton who has one top five finish under his belt so far this season which came from UTA's season-opening Gerald Richey (Sept. 5) with a time of 15:07.1 in the men's 5k.

Heading into Friday's meet, Sauerhage's lineup will consist of the following student-athletes:
