ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington cross country teams concluded the Western Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday, Oct. 31 from Harold Patterson Sports Complex with solid individual finishes.
Freshman
Dorcas Jepkosgei continued her hot, first-year campaign with a second-place finish after posting a time of 20:03.90 in the women's 6k. Her top performance helped guide the women's squad to a third-place finish.
With a time of 20:20.90, junior
Matro Jepkemboi joined Jepkosgei in the top five individual finishers group, capturing a fourth-place finish.
The conference awarded the top 10 finishers with All-WAC First Team honors as this marked the first for Jepkosgei and third consecutive time for Jepkemboi.
No Maverick placed below 32nd out of the top five finishers as
Emilia Mandl (22:07.50, 28th),
Abigail Perez (22:33.30, 30th) and
Lauren Baur (22:40.90, 32nd) contributed to the team total of 96 points.
On the men's side, sophomore
Toby Eaton has paced UTA all season long as the transfer came away with a top 15 finish with a time of 24:29.30 in the men's 8k. That performance went on to earn Eaton All-WAC Second Team honors.
Behind Eaton was freshman
Mateo Doherty who came in 23rd with a time of 24:47.90.
Angel Sanchez (24:59.20, 26th),
Kebede Kerlin (25:16.80, 32nd) and
Alex Kalmar (25:18.70, 33rd) all helped the team to a fourth-place finish with 129 points.
