TULSA, Oklahoma – UT Arlington men's basketball (7-4) is set to close its recent run of four road games when it takes on Oral Roberts (5-9) from the Mabee Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday night. The game will be broadcast live on the
Summit League Network ($) and can be heard live on the Varsity Network App with the Voice of the Mavs, Josh Sours on the call.
The Mavericks come into action coming off a 76-60 loss to Stanford on the road last Wednesday, and are 3-3 on the road thus far this season. ORU has lost two straight, including its last outing at TCU, 72-53, on Thursday night in Fort Worth. The Golden Eagles are 4-2 at home this season, including wins in each of their last two outings.
Oral Roberts is led by first-year head coach Kory Barnett, who joined the Golden Eagles following his time the previous season as an assistant at West Virginia. In addition to his time in Morgantown, Barnett spent five seasons at Nevada and six at UCLA.
The Golden Eagles have three players scoring in double figures this season. Oral Roberts is led by graduate guard Ty Harper, who is averaging a team-best 16.8 ppg in 14 appearances, all starts, while redshirt sophomore forward Ofri Naveh is scoring 12.9 ppg and 4.9 rpg, and junior guard Connor Dow is averaging 11.4 ppg and 3.4 rpg.
UTA and Oral Roberts will be meeting for the 10th time when they clash on Monday night. ORU holds a slight 5-4 advantage, though UTA won the last meeting, 75-71 in Arlington in head coach
KT Turner's UTA head coaching debut back on Nov. 6, 2023.
Senior guard
Marcell McCreary has been on a tear for the Mavs, having scored in double figures in eight of his last nine games, including a 12-point outing at Stanford. Sophomore point guard
Cash Chavis scored 14 and added four assists at Stanford and is averaging just under 10 points per game (9.8) and just under five assists per game (4.6). UTA will need a strong performance from senior forward
Raysean Seamster, who was a preseason All-WAC selection by the league's head coaches. He is averaging a team-high 15.1 ppg and 6.5 rpg, but was held to single-digit scoring (seven points) at Stanford, which marked the first time in 11 games this season he has not been in double figures.
