Dygert and Noah combine for shutout in UT Arlington's 5-0 victory against UTSA

ARLINGTON, Texas --Sophomore Caylon Dygert and senior Caden Noah combined to throw a shutout on Friday as the Mavericks blanked the UTSA Roadrunners 5-0. It marked the first time since 2020, and the third time overall that the Mavs have opened the season with a shutout.

Dygert (1-0) started and picked up the win for UT Arlington, going 7.1 shutout innings while giving up three hits, no walks, and striking out three. Noah was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going 1.2 shutout innings, allowing one hit, walking none and striking out two.

At the plate, the Mavericks were paced by freshman Cade Dodson, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a double. Senior Maxwell Mims compiled a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Junior Jake Martinez also contributed for the Mavs, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

GAME NOTES
» Dygert and Noah combined to throw a four-hit shutout.
» Dodson compiled three base hits in the game for UT Arlington.
» UT Arlington's highest scoring inning was the sixth, when it pushed three runs across.
» Dygert put together 7.1 innings of scoreless ball for the Mavericks.
» The Mavericks out-hit the Roadrunners at a 10-4 clip.
» UT Arlington went 4-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
» UT Arlington pitchers limited UTSA to just 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
» UT Arlington pitchers faced 32 UTSA hitters in the game, allowing 15 ground balls and five fly balls while striking out five.
» Dodson led the Mavericks at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double.
