STILLWATER, Okla. --Freshman Austin Phillips collected four RBIs, but the UT Arlington Mavericks fell to the No. 19 Oklahoma State Cowboys 19-4 on Sunday.
Sophomore Caylon Dygert (1-1) started and took the loss on the mound for UT Arlington (2-2). Senior Cade McGlade was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one. Freshman Hayes Melville picked up his first career strikeout as well.
Phillips went 2-for-4 with a double in addition to his four RBIs for the Mavericks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 4-0, the Mavericks first put runs on the board in the second inning. Phillips' bases-clearing double put all three runs on the board in the inning for UT Arlington.
The Cowboys expanded their lead to 13-3 before the Mavericks offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fourth. UT Arlington scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Phillips, which brought the score to 13-4 in favor of the Cowboys. The Mavericks were unable to get any closer, as Oklahoma State added six runs to their tally on the way to a 19-4 final.
