Busy Week Ahead For Men’s Tennis With Back To Back Matches

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team (4-5) have a busy week ahead of them with matches in two straight days starting with Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. from the UTA Tennis Center then turning around and traveling to Abilene to take on Abilene Christian on Thursday, Feb. 27, from the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion.
 
The Mavericks come into the matches 4-5 overall and are currently riding a two-match winning streak after back-to-back 4-0 sweeps over Oral Roberts and New Mexico State. The Mavs have been hot as of late, going 4-1 while surrendering four only points in that span. 
 
At the UTA Tennis Center, the Mavs hold a 1-3 record with their lone win coming last time out at home against ORU. The Mavs are 0-2 away from home while being a perfect 3-0 at neutral sites.
 
Last time out against the Aggies of New Mexico State at the 61st Annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions, the duo of Meethre Barot and Pedro Sasso kicked things off for the Mavs with a 6-0 win on Court 1 in doubles action. The team of Mattia Ricci and Andres Medus secured the doubles point for the Mavs on Court 3, defeating the team of Lance Urlaub and Roko Stipetic in a 6-4 battle.
 
In singles action, Daniel Pérez-Caraballo made it 2-0 for the Mavs after a 6-3, 7-6 win on Court 6. Medus secured a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win on Court 2 to make it 3-0 in favor of the Mavs. Ricci secured the 4-0 sweep for the Mavs after a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 win on Court 4.
 
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M – CORPUS CHRISTI
Despite being on a two-match skid, the Islanders have been hot to start off the spring season coming into the match carrying an 8-2 overall record. Away from home, the Islanders are 5-1, dropping their last away match against SMU 0-4. This will be the 24th overall meeting between the Islanders and Mavs, with UTA trailing in the all-time series 7-16. The Mavs dropped the match the last time the two met back in 2023 but hold a 3-2 record in their last five meetings. At home, the Mavs are 5-7 against the Islanders.
 
SCOUTING ABILENE CHRISTIAN
The Wildcats come into the match carrying a 7-4 overall record with a perfect 6-0 record at home. Despite dropping their first four matches of the season, the Wildcats have gone on a tear and are currently riding a seven-match winning streak with their latest victory being over Lamar back on February 22. This will be the tenth overall meeting between the two programs with the Mavs holding a 6-3 edge in the all-time series. This will be the third trip to Abilene for the Mavs, with them splitting the previous two matches 1-1. UTA has won the last three matchups in the series.
