ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (4-4) stood their ground but ultimately fell short to the No. 53 TCU Horned Frogs (5-3) to snap the Mavericks two match win streak on Wednesday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center.
 
The loss gives the Mavs their second loss of the month of February while ending their two-match streak of not surrendering a single point. 
 
The Horned frogs secured the doubles point behind wins on Courts 1 and 3. On Court 2, the duo of Ioana Dumitrescu and Ana Paula Jimenez were locked in a heated battle with TCU's Helena Narmont and Yu-Chin Tsai before the match was abandoned due to the Horned Frogs snagging the doubles point. Dumitrescu and Jimenez were leading 5-4 before the match went unfinished.
 
TCU managed to get the sweep behind singles wins on Courts 3, 4 and 5 despite UTA looking like they may steal a point or two before the match was called. Jimenez was locked in a three-set fight with Jade Otway on Court 1, 2-6, 6-3, 2-1 with Jimenez leading before going unfinished. 
 
Despite dropping the first set 0-6 on Court 2, Mialy Ranaivo bounced back in set two to even things up and force a set three after a 6-1 set two victory. Ranaivo and Raquel Caballero were knotted up at five apiece in a thrilling set three before the match went unfinished.
 
The Mavs fall to 0-20 in the all-time series against the Horned Frogs while dropping to 0-10 all-time at the UTA Tennis Center while TCU moves to 2-1 away from home.
 
UTA returns to action this upcoming Tuesday, March 4, when they travel to Denton to take on North Texas in a rescheduled match. The match was originally supposed to take place back on February 17 but due to poor weather conditions the match was moved to March 4 at 2 p.m. at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
