SAN ANTONIO - Since the
Kara Dill era began in 2023, the UT Arlington softball team is off to its best start of 4-0 after picking up two wins on day two of Incarnate Word's tournament on Saturday, Feb. 8 from H-E-B Field.
Across both games, freshman
Talia Maldonado paced the Mavericks at the plate with a .571 batting average (4-7) and one RBI off two doubles. With two runs scored, the Corpus Christi product was 3-3 in stolen base attempts. After four games played, Maldonado sits at the top of the UTA lineup with a .455 overall average.
Transfers
Dee McClarity and
Mia McNulty are making their presence known in a Maverick uniform as the pair snagged three hits a piece with McClarity at four RBI. McNulty added to her shared team-high of three doubles after putting up one in both games on Saturday.
Senior
Jessica Adams and sophomore
Abi Gutierrez earned their first wins of the 2025 season after pitching a total of 10.2 innings with nine strikeouts between the pair.
ON DECK
The Mavs will look to extend its winning streak with the final game of the weekend on Sunday, Feb. 9 against Incarnate Word at 12:15 p.m. from H-E-B Field.
