Lady Mavs Geared Up For 2025 WAC Tournament With Familiar Foe, No. 6 California Baptist In Quarterfinals

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The UT Arlington women's basketball team (15-12, 10-6 WAC) is geared up and ready for the 2025 Hercules Tires Western Athletic Conference Championship as the Lady Mavs enter as the third overall seed and face the sixth-seeded California Baptist Lancers (12-18, 9-7 WAC) inside the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Thursday, March 13, at 4:30 p.m. CT.

The three seed is the highest the Lady Mavs have entered the WAC Tournament during their four-year tenure and will be the second time they've met CBU in the tournament as well as being the second matchup with the Lancers in as many weeks.

The Lady Mavs enter the game with their most all-conference selections during their tenure in the WAC with four: Aspen Thornton (Co-Sixth Player of the Year), Avery Brittingham (First Team), Koi Love (First Team) and Kendal Robinson (Freshman Team). The two First Team selections mark the first time in program history the Lady Mavs have two players selected in the same season.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the eighth all time meeting between the two programs and the second time they've met in WACVegas. UTA picked up their first win in the all-time series in their last matchup and hold a 1-6 overall record against the Lancers. The Lady Mavs split the season series with CBU, dropping the first game 90-79 and winning the regular season finale 87-73. The Lancers knocked the Lady Mavs out of the conference tournament last season, 83-67 in the WAC semifinals. As a team, the Lady Mavs average 75.14 points per game in their seven games against the Lancers.

SCOUTING CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
The Lancers come into the game on a two-game skid and finished the regular season with 9-7 WAC record and head into WACVegas as the sixth overall seed. CBU had two all-conference selections in Khloe Lemon and CeCe Legaspi. Legaspi was the WAC Freshman of the Year as well as being named to the All-Freshman Team while Lemon picked up All-WAC Second Team honors. In neutral site games this season, CBU is 0-2.
