STEPHENVILLE, Texas -- UT Arlington could not ignite a spark offensively against Tarleton on Friday as the Mavericks dropped the series opener with a final score of 8-0 in five innings.
Senior Emilie Hoelscher (3-4) got the ball to start for UTA (13-10) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UTA managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-2 with runners in scoring position. The Mavericks last got a runner on third in the fifth, when senior Nicole Hill made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
GAME NOTES
» UTA pitchers faced 26 Texan hitters in the game, allowing four ground balls and nine fly balls.
» Junior Kailee Bautista led the Mavericks at the plate, going 0-1.
» Tarleton was led offensively by senior B Hernandez, who went 3-3 with a double and two RBI.
» Blincoe led the Texans pitching staff, throwing five scoreless innings.
