HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mavericks were trailing 1-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Junior Justin Rumfield came across to score the lone run of the inning for UT Arlington and get them on the board.
The Trojans then scored one run to retake their advantage heading into the fourth inning, when the Mavericks responded by getting back on the scoreboard themselves. UT Arlington managed to push across two runs in the inning, which brought the Mavericks lead to 3-2.
Little Rock came back to tie the ballgame at three before UT Arlington reclaimed a 4-3 advantage in the fifth inning. The Mavericks picked up a run when senior Parker Airhart drew a walk from junior Malcolm Brown that scored Rumfield.
UT Arlington surrendered the lead they built in the fifth, but got back on the scoreboard in the seventh trailing 5-4. The Mavericks left the yard two times, courtesy of freshman Austin Phillips and junior Xander McAfee, in the inning on the way to scoring eight runs, bringing the score to 12-5 in favor of UT Arlington. Little Rock put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Mavericks still coasted to the 12-7 win.
