ARLINGTON, Texas --Freshman Cade Dodson racked up four RBIs, but the UT Arlington Mavericks fell to the Little Rock Trojans 10-6 on Sunday.
Senior Joe Steeber (1-2) got the ball to start for UT Arlington (6-10) and took the loss. Junior Aaron Calhoun was a bright spot for the Mavericks, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits, with no walks and one strikeout.
Dodson went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and a walk in addition to his four RBIs for the Mavericks. Junior Larry Haskins compiled a standout performance as well, going 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI. Junior Jordan Medellin also contributed for UT Arlington, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 7-0, the Mavericks first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. UT Arlington plated two runs when Dodson left the yard with senior Parker Airhart aboard.
The Trojans expanded their lead to 10-2 before the Mavericks offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the eighth. The UT Arlington offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Dodson, which tightened the Trojans lead to 10-6. The Mavericks were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
