Mavs Return Home From Long Road Trip To Host Incarnate Word

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team (7-8) look to return to their winning ways when they come home for their first match in Arlington in the month of March when they welcome the Incarnate Word Cardinals (6-4) to the UTA Tennis Center with first serve set to begin at 11 a.m. CT.

The Mavericks are returning from a trip to Florida last week that saw the Mavs take on Florida Gulf Coast followed by the then No. 23 South Florida Bulls. Despite putting up valiant efforts, the Mavs fell 3-4 to FGCU and 1-6 to No. 23 USF that put them on the current two-match losing streak after being 4-1 in their previous five matches.

On the season, Andres Medus leads the way for the Mavs in singles play, holding a 9-5 dual record. Medus has gone 7-3 on Court 2 while going 2-1 on Court 1 and 0-1 on Court 3. Mattia Ricci holds solid with a 6-3 dual match record, going 4-2 on Court 4, 2-0 on Court 5 and 0-1 on Court 3.

In doubles action, the duo of Barot and Sasso have solidified their selves as the top doubles team for the Mavs, holding an impressive 12-2 as a team on the season with a 9-2 record from Court 1 and a 3-0 record from Court 2.

SCOUTING INCARNATE WORD
The Cardinals carry a 6-4 overall record into Saturday's match and fell last time out 1-6 to a tough UTSA team. UIW seems to play their best tennis on the road this season, holding a 3-1 record away from home while being five hundred at home and at neutral sites. This will be the fifth all-time meeting between the Mavs and the Cardinals, with UTA holding a perfect 4-0 record in the all-time series. All four matches have come in Arlington, and this will be the first time the two have met since 2018. In the all-time series, UIW has picked up just two points in the four matches, those two points coming back in in 2015 during their first ever match. UTA has not surrendered a single point in their past three matches with UIW.
