ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Tuesday afternoon
Meethre Barot as the WAC Singles Player of the Week as well and
Pedro Sasso and Barot as the WAC Doubles Team of the Week for the week ending on March 2.
Both Barot and Sasso have helped lead the Mavericks to four straight wins, their longest streak of the season so far. In those four wins, UTA has surrendered only one point while claiming 18 points.
Barot picked up his first two wins in dual match play this past week after victories over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and Abilene Christian, both coming on Court 1. Barot defeated TAMUCC's Nathan Favier 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 and defeated ACU's Daniel Morozov 6-1, 6-4. He now holds a 2-5 overall record in dual match play with a 2-3 record on Court 1 and an 0-2 record on Court 2.
The duo of Barot and Sasso have solidified their selves as the top doubles team for the Mavs, holding a perfect 10-0 as a team on the season with a 7-0 record from Court 1 and a 3-0 record from Court 2. The pair continued their dominance this past week, picking up a 6-1 win over TAMUCC's Tom Berry and N. Niox Chateau followed by a 6-3 win over ACU's Benjamin McDonald and Daniel Morozov.
The Mavs return to action this with a pair of matches this weekend starting in Houston when UTA travels to Rice for a 10 a.m. match on Saturday, March 8. UTA will then hit Beaumont on Sunday, March 9, for an 11 a.m. match against Lamar.
