Gutierrez and Adams Combine For Shutout in UT Arlington's 5-0 win against Utah Tech

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Sophomore Abi Gutierrez and senior Jessica Adams combined to toss a shutout on Saturday as the UT Arlington Mavericks blanked the Utah Tech Trailblazers 5-0.

Gutierrez (3-0) started and picked up the win for UT Arlington (12-9, 2-1), going 4.1 shutout innings while giving up one hit, walking three, and striking out six. Adams was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going 2.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out one.

In the batter's box, the Mavericks were paced by junior Kailee Bautista, who went 1-2 on the day with a double, two walks and an RBI. Sophomore Mia McNulty put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-4 with two RBI. Sophomore Kaitlyn Sailor also chipped in for UTA, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Mavericks took the lead for good in the third, scoring for the first time in the inning.

The Mavericks also added runs in the fifth inning when they scored three times.

GAME NOTES
