DALLAS, Texas --The UT Arlington Mavericks had a tough showing on Tuesday, falling to the No. 17 Dallas Baptist Patriots 14-4 in seven innings despite the efforts of freshman Cade Dodson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Senior Merek Sears (0-1) came out of the bullpen for UT Arlington (8-17) and took the loss. Senior Jack Hagan was a bright spot for the Mavericks, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing two shutout innings, allowing one hit, with one walk and four strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mavericks were trailing 3-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. UT Arlington's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run single off the bat of junior Larry Haskins and a two-run single from Dodson. The Mavericks were unable to hold the lead, as Dallas Baptist scored 11 times over the remaining five innings to grab the 14-4 win.
