Mavs Wraps Up Regular Season With Final Two Home Matches This Week

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team (8-9) return home for their final two regular season matches when they host Prairie View A&M (2-21) on Wednesday, April 2, and Abilene Christian (11-8) on Thursday, April 3, at the UTA Tennis Center.
 
The match against Prairie View A&M is set for 11 a.m. CT and the match against Abilene Christian is set for 2 p.m. CT.
 
Last time out, the Mavericks fell on the road to Wichita State in a tough 4-3 battle. The Mavs took the doubles point behind wins on Courts 2 and 3. In singles play, Andres Medus and Yazid Lahjomri picked up singles wins on Courts 2 and 6.
 
On the season, Andres Medus leads the way for the Mavs in singles play, holding a 11-5 dual record. Medus has gone 9-3 on Court 2 while going 2-1 on Court 1 and 0-1 on Court 3. Mattia Ricci holds solid with a 7-3 dual match record, going 5-2 on Court 4, 2-0 on Court 5 and 0-1 on Court 3. Mattia Ricci holds a 7-3 record with a 5-2 record on Court 4 with a 2-0 record on Court 5 with an 0-1 record on Court 3. Yazid Lahjomri holds steady with a 7-4 dual record with a 6-1 record on Court 6 with a 1-2 record on Court 5 and 0-1 on Court 4.
 
In doubles action, the duo of Meethre Barot and Pedro Sasso have solidified their selves as the top doubles team for the Mavs, holding an impressive 12-4 as a team on the season with a 9-4 record from Court 1 and a 3-0 record from Court 2. The team of Medus and Ricci hold strong with a 11-5 dual record for the season with an 9-2 record from Court 3 while going 2-3 on Court 2.
 
UTA leads the all-time series over Prairie View A&M, holding a perfect 8-0 record against the Panthers in a series dating back to 2017. In the series, the Mavs have surrendered a total of two points in their eight matches.
 
The Mavs lead the all-time series over Abilene Christian, 7-3 in a series that dates back to 1989. UTA has won the last four matches and holds a 4-1 record at home. UTA picked up the win over the Wildcats earlier this season, defeating the Wildcats 6-1 in Abilene.
 
SCOUTING PRAIRIE VIEW A&M
The Panthers enter the match holding a 2-21 record and have dropped their last five matches. On the road, PVAMU holds a 1-11 record. Xavier Peter-Gooding leads the way for the Panthers with a 3-16 singles dual record.
 
SCOUTING ABILENE CHRISTIAN
The Wildcats enter Thursday with an 11-8 overall record and are currently on a two-match losing streak. The Wildcats are 9-1 at home, with their lone home loss coming to the Mavs. Away from Abilene, the Wildcats hold a 1-7 record. 
 
NEXT UP
With the regular season wrapped up, the Mavs will then turn their sights to the Western Athletic Conference Championships from Thursday, April 17, through Saturday, April 19. UTA hosts the tournament this season, with the matches taking place at the Arlington Tennis Center.
