ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington men's basketball (14-7, 6-3 WAC) dropped a tough, physical overtime battle to California Baptist (16-6, 6-3 WAC) on Saturday afternoon at the College Park Center. It was just the second loss in the past eight games for the Mavericks, and only their second home loss of the season (8-2). CBU had five players in double figures in their road win, the team's sixth-straight win overall.
UTA fought trailed by as many as 12 in the second half and fought all the way back in the final minutes to force overtime, before ultimately falling to the Lancers.
"This team was really good," head coach KT Turner said following the game. "They came in and fought, they were more desperate than us, but I really like how our guys fought the last couple minutes of the game. It shows what we're capable of doing, but we just couldn't finish them off."
CBU opened the game on a 7-0 run and eventually took a 35-31 lead into the break. The visiting Lancers led by as many as eight in the first half. Big man Nate Garcia scored 10 of his 13 points in the opening period for the Lancers. CBU started 8-of-10 to open the game.

th career start for the Mavs, in just his 51
st career appearance.
UTA rallied late after trailing by 10 with just 1:20 to play in regulation, riding an 8-0 run with a pair of
Marcell McCreary three-pointers to cut the lead to 66-64 with 28.8 seconds to go. Missed free throws down the stretch for CBU and a massive putback slam by
