COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The National Wheelchair Basketball Association and U25 Team Selection Committee announced that 20 athletes have been selected to the initial roster for the 2027 U.S. Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball Team as part of the team's selection process.
Three current Lady Movin' Mavs — Quinn Meyer, Caroline Fitzpatrick and Abby LaPole — are among the selections following the team tryout camp held Oct. 15-19. The trio is joined by a pair of former Lady Movin' Mavs in Abby Dunkin and Josie Aslakson who serve as assistant coaches on the team.
Athletes in the U25 pool will move on to the Women's U25 World Championship Team Selection Camp. The event is held Dec. 13-17.Â
Following the camp, 12 athletes will be selected for the U.S. Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball Team. They will represent the U.S at the 2027 IWBF Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship, set for June 11-17 in São Paulo, Brazil.Â
LaPole is in the midst of her freshman season at UTA. The Canton, Ohio native previously competed for the NWBA Junior Division's ASO Cavaliers and earned Varsity Invitational Tournament MVP honors in 2025.
Meyer, a senior with the Lady Movin' Mavs, has plenty of experience with Team USA. The Austin native won gold with the U.S. Women's National Team at the 2025 IWBF Americas Cup. Meyer also featured on the Women's National Team that won gold at the 2023 IWBF Women's U25 World Championship.Â
Fitzpatrick rounds out the trio of Lady Movin' Mavs players to make the initial roster. The Blackwood, New Jersey native is entering her sophomore season at UTA.
"Quinn, Abby and Caroline making the initial roster is a testament to the hard work and dedication that they give to the sport of wheelchair basketball," UTA head women's wheelchair basketball coach John McPhail said.
"I'm excited to see them continue to develop and build on this opportunity throughout the rest of the semester and into the final selection camp in December. I know they will leave no stone unturned in pursuit of their goal of representing Team USA."
