LUBBOCK, Texas – The UT Arlington track and field team wrapped up competition at the Jarvis Scott Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by several strong distance performances on both the men's and women's sides.
On the women's side, senior
Kayan Green recorded a third-place finish in the women's 1000-meters, clocking a time of 2:57.89. Freshman
Dorcas Jepkosgei continues an impressive indoor season showing, as she earned third place in the mile with a time of 4:53.31.
UTA also saw solid depth in the women's mile, as
Matro Jepkemboi placed seventh (4:58.73) and Linn Aldofsson followed closely behind in eighth (4:58.78).
The men's distance group turned in multiple top-five finishes as well. Sophomore
Toby Eaton placed fourth in the mile, posting a time of 4:16.04, while freshman
Mateo Doherty finished fifth in 4:16.17. In the men's 1000m,
Leo LeGrand earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 2:27.79.
UTA also picked up notable performances in the field events by three freshmen.
Arieanna Mcpeak placed 10
th in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.23 meters, while Abisayo Gbakino earned eighth place at 14.84 meters.
Lucas Cano also recorded a mark of 16.72 meters in the men's shot put to place 10
th.

"Dorcas ran really well in the mile, Arieanna had a good day in triple jump and so did Abisayo," said Coach Sauerhage. "Lucas also threw really well in shot put."

The Mavericks will prepare for the WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, set for Friday, Feb. 27 through Saturday, Feb. 28.
