NATCHITOCHES, La. – UT Arlington Mavericks closed opening weekend Sunday with a loss at Brown-Stroud Field as the Demons completed the three-game sweep.
The Mavericks totaled eight hits on the day, with
Caylon Dygert going 2-for-4 with a double and
Preston Knott driving in a run on two hits.
Zach Mazoch supplied the biggest swing with a solo home run, while
Jackson Hill added an RBI single as UTA pushed across three runs and put multiple runners on base throughout the afternoon.
Northwestern State used a multi-run second and third inning to take control early before adding insurance late. UTA continued to compete at the plate, recording hits in several innings and finishing with opportunities in scoring position, but the Demons were able to hold the advantage to secure the sweep.
PITCHING PROFILE
Dylan Skolfield made the start, working 3.0 innings with two strikeouts, while
Landon Murphy followed in relief and logged 1.2 innings.
Jack Barr provided a steady stretch out of the bullpen with
2.1 innings and just one run allowed, and
Jacob Gabler closed the afternoon, striking out one.
