ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington Movin' Mavs will return to the court this weekend as the men's and women's wheelchair basketball programs host a multi-team tournament March 14–15 at College Park Center. The two-day event will feature several of the nation's top collegiate wheelchair basketball programs, including Alabama, Eastern Washington and Illinois, with games taking place on both the main court and practice court.
Saturday's action begins at 9 a.m. with the Movin' Mavs men's team taking on Eastern Washington. UTA will then face Alabama at 1 p.m. before wrapping up the day against Eastern Washington again at 5 p.m. The Lady Movin' Mavs will take the court Saturday afternoon against Arizona at 3 p.m. before facing Alabama at 7 p.m.
Sunday's schedule resumes at 8 a.m. with the Movin' Mavs men facing Illinois, followed by a matchup against Alabama at 12 p.m. The Lady Movin' Mavs will take on Illinois at 10 a.m. before wrapping up the tournament against Alabama at 2 p.m. All Movin' Mavs games will be played on the main court at College Park Center.
The Movin' Mavs are among the most successful wheelchair basketball programs in the country, capturing multiple national championships and producing numerous Paralympians and professional players over the program's storied history. The program has long served as a national leader in adapted athletics and continues to provide opportunities for student-athletes with disabilities to compete at the highest collegiate level.
This season also marks a new chapter for the programs after the men's and women's wheelchair basketball teams were officially added to UT Arlington's Division of Intercollegiate Athletics earlier this year, further integrating the nationally recognized programs into the department's competitive structure.
National Spotlight
The Movin' Mavs' impact recently received national attention through a feature on CBS Sports highlighting the program's history, culture and continued success. The segment showcases the program's legacy at UT Arlington and the opportunities it provides for student-athletes both on and off the court.
