ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington fell to Stephen F. Austin, 4–1, on Tuesday night at Clay Gould Ballpark despite a 10-hit effort at the plate.
The Mavericks generated traffic throughout the game but were unable to capitalize consistently, finishing with one run while leaving 15 runners on base. Stephen F. Austin scored single runs in the first and sixth innings and added two more in the seventh to create the final margin.
UTA answered SFA's first-inning run in the second when
Zach Mazoch led off with a single and later came around to score on a sacrifice fly from
Jackson Hill to tie the game at 1–1. The game remained even into the middle innings before the Lumberjacks regained the lead in the sixth and extended it in the seventh.
Xavier Melendez led the Mavericks offensively, going 4-for-5, while
Noah Fields added a 2-for-4 night and reached base three times.
Ethan Ho turned in a 2-for-4 performance, and
Austin Phillips added a hit as UT Arlington reached double figures in the hit column but was limited to a single run.
PITCHING PROFILE
- Landon Murphy made the start for UT Arlington, allowing one run on three hits over 2.0 innings with three strikeouts and no walks. Nick Perry followed with 4.0 effective innings out of the bullpen, surrendering one unearned run on three hits while striking out three.
- Michael Dobbins was charged with the loss after allowing two runs in the seventh inning. Zach Evans and Hayes Melville combined to work the final 2.0 innings without allowing a run, keeping the game within reach. Overall, UTA pitching held Stephen F. Austin to nine hits and three earned runs.

UT Arlington remains at home this weekend, hosting St. John's for a three-game series at Clay Gould Ballpark from March 20–22. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
