WACO, Texas – The UT Arlington track & field team finished the first day of competition at the Clyde Hart Classic in Waco, Texas, hosted by Baylor.
The day was highlighted by senior Jaalah Puyear, who broke the school record in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 56.90 meters. Her throw surpassed the previous record of 56.11 meters by 0.79 meters.
Freshman
Lucas Cano claimed the men's discus title with a throw of 52.59 meters, topping competitors from programs including TCU, SFA, ULM and Sam Houston State.
Several Mavericks turned in personal best performances, including
Esther Adedire (48.22m, women's hammer),
Joey Haws (48.44m, men's discus) and
Kali Todman (1:06.75, women's 400m hurdles), while Azaryah Jakcson placed third in the women's discus with a personal best of 47.36m.
