UTA Earns 7-4 Win Over Tarleton State in Game Two of Home Series

ARLINGTON, TX – The UT Arlington softball team secured its second victory in the home conference series over Tarleton State, 7-4, on Saturday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field.

The Mavericks now move to a 15-16 overall record and a 4-1 record in WAC play.

At the plate, UTA was led by junior Mia McNulty, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Tarleton State struck early in the top of the first, capitalizing on a bases-loaded opportunity as Jaelynn Duke launched a grand slam to give the Texans a 4-0 lead.

UTA responded in the bottom half of the inning. Marley Neises reached on a Tarleton fielding error by the shortstop, allowing Mia McNulty and Valeria Feeney to score and cut the deficit to 4-2. Later in the frame, Peyton Holland drew a walk on a full count with the bases loaded, bringing in Dee McClarity and trimming the lead to 4-3.

In the bottom of the third, Talia Maldonado delivered a clutch two-RBI double to right center, scoring Sailor and Holland to give UTA its first lead of the game at 5-4.

In the bottom of the fourth, Mia McNulty extended the Mavericks' advantage with a solo home run, pushing the lead to 6-4. The long ball marked her ninth of the season.

Peyton Holland used her speed to score an RBI from Mia McNulty, extending the Mavericks' lead to 7-4.

UTA held off a late push from Tarleton State to secure the 7-4 win.
