Mavs readying for R.E. Lamkin Invitational

SAN DIEGO – UT Arlington men's golf is set for its third tournament of the spring and its first since Feb. 24. The Mavericks will travel to the golden coast to compete in the R.E. Lamkin Invitational, co-hosted by the San Diego State Aztecs and the University of San Diego Toreros. 

The Mavericks are coming off an 11th-place finish at the Military City Collegiate. UTA posted scores of 298-295-322 for a 51-over-par 915 overall. 

Highlighting the Mavericks' efforts was the performance of Arth Sinha. The freshman finished in a tie for second place individually. 

UTA made one change to its lineup. Matthew Broder is among the Mavericks making the trip to San Diego, taking the place of Jen chie Huang.

INSIDE THE LINEUP
Arth Sinha
  • Sinha is coming off a stellar effort at the Military City Collegiate, coming in a tie for second place individually with an even-par 216 at the event. The outing ended up bagging WAC Men's Co-Golfer of the Week honors for Sinha. The freshman was one of just three in the 69-player field to finish even-par or better and finished just one stroke back of tournament winner Joshua Hong from UTSA.
Ajay Morris
  • Finishing in a tie for 50th at the Military City Collegiate — the third best placement among UTA players — was Morris. The freshman opened with a pair of 74's in the first two rounds and finished with a 16-over 232.
Michael Chevalier
  • Chevalier posted the second-best tournament score for the Mavericks at the Military City Collegiate. The junior carded a 77-74-79– 230 overall.
Nicholas Lyman
  • The fourth best finish for UTA at the Military City Collegiate was Lyman. The freshman was one of three Mavericks that shot a 74 in the opening round. Lyman finished 22-over and in a tie for 60th place.
Matthew Broder
  • Entering the lineup for his second tournament of the spring is Matthew Broder. The junior last competed at the Amer Ari Invitational in early February, recording scores of 77-73-75– 225. Broder finished in a tie for 111th.
