WACO & COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UT Arlington track & field team closed out a strong weekend across two meets, collecting five event wins, multiple top-three finishes and a series of personal best marks.
44 Farms Invitational: Thursday, April 9 – Friday, April 10 (College Station, Texas)
In College Station,
Eliza Lemberga highlighted the multis at the 44 Farms Invitational. Lemberga placed sixth in the heptathlon with 5,493 points, moving to No. 2 All-Time UTA in the heptathlon. On the men's side,
Christian Coker recorded a personal best in the decathlon with 6,822 points.
Baylor Invitational: Friday, April 10 (Waco, Texas)
The Mavericks carried momentum into Waco, finishing the day with five event wins.
Chastin Clark earned first place in the men's high jump with a new personal best of 1.97m.
Logan Villalva added a win in the men's hammer throw (53.82m). While
Angel Sanchez claimed gold in the men's 1500m, crossing the line with a new personal best of 3:50.05.
UTA dominated the women's and men's 800m.
Emilia Mandl and
Alex Kalmar swept the first-place spots in the 800m races. Mandl clocking a new personal best of 2:08.11, while
Alex Kalmar finished in 1:48.93. While
Kayan Green earned second behind Mandl in the women's 800m with a new PR of 2:11.14 and
Jackson Cichon snagged second in the men's 800m behind Kalmar, at 1:51.21.
Alexis Cain earned third in the women's 400m (53.61).
In the field events, Gabriel Songer placed second in the men's hammer throw (50.28m), while
Jonathan Williams (1.96m) and
Miles Jones (1.96m) finished second and third, respectively in the men's high jump.
Esther Adedire earned runner-up honors in the women's hammer throw at 48.38m.
Lucas Cano placed second in both the men's discus (53.10m) and shot put (16.56m). Clark also added a third-place finish in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 14.23m.
On the track,
Jayden Haynes earned third in men's 400m with a personal best of 46.61.
Devin Payne also placed third in the men's 400mH, clocking a PR of 53.52.
Additional personal-best performances for the Mavericks include
Abigail Perez in the women's 1500m (4:46.39), A'Myaih Johnson in the women's 400m (1:00.94),
Kali Todman in the women's 400m hurdles,
Jayden Haynes in the men's 200m (21.41),
Alexis Cain in the women's 200m (21.41) and
Esther Shaba also in the women's 200m (23.82).
THOUGHTS FROM COACH
"We had a really good meet at Baylor!" said Coach Sauerhage, "Our top athletes performed well.
Alexis Cain and
Esther Shaba both posted season bests and high-ranking WAC performances. Emilia, Kayan, Alex and Jackson looked great in the 800m.
Christian Coker and
Eliza Lemberga did well with personal bests at Texas A&M. We have two good teams and are primed now to keep cranking out top performances."

Next week, UTA will travel to conference foe, Tarleton State, for the Joe Gillespie Invitational, set to take place Friday, April 17 through Saturday, April 18.
