UTA Athletics Sets New MavsDay Record with $342,429 Raised

248 donors contribute $342,429 in support of Maverick student-athletes and programs

ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington Athletics played a major role in the success of Mavs Day, helping generate significant support for Maverick student-athletes, programs and initiatives through a strong showing from alumni, fans, staff, and supporters across the UTA community.

During the annual day of giving, Athletics received support from 248 donors and helped raise a total of $342,429. Of those donors, 124 made their first-ever gift to UTA Athletics, representing 50 percent of all athletics donors and underscoring the continued growth of philanthropic engagement around Maverick Athletics.

"This year's Mavs Day once again demonstrated the passion and belief our supporters have in UTA Athletics and our student-athletes," said Jon Fagg, Director of Athletics. "The generosity shown across all of our programs reflects the momentum surrounding our department and the commitment our community has to providing transformational experiences for our Mavericks."

UTA Athletics saw a 463.636 percent increase in donors from 2025 to 2026 and a 2345.92 percent increase in dollars raised from 2025 to 2026.

The department also saw strong internal participation, with 78 percent of athletics staff making a Mavs Day contribution in support of UTA student-athletes and programs.

"We want to thank all of our donors for their incredible support," said Ira Childress, Deputy Athletic Director for Development. "We also want to extend a special thank you to football alum Michael Baylor for his transformational lead gift of $250,000."

A total of 32 donors made multiple gifts to athletics initiatives, while several programs saw outstanding participation throughout the campaign.
Track and field led all programs with 60 gifts, followed by volleyball with 50 and women's basketball with 27. Additional participation totals included:
  • Tennis – 18 gifts
  • Men's Basketball – 14 gifts
  • Men's Golf – 14 gifts
  • Baseball – 13 gifts
  • Women's Flag Football – 9 gifts
  • Movin' Mavs – 9 gifts
  • Softball – 4 gifts
The Maverick Club led all athletics funds with $40,630.82 raised during the campaign, followed by Men's basketball ($9,690), Track and Field ($8,035), and women's basketball as the top individual sport program ($4,411.68).
