DALLAS, Texas – The UT Arlington track & field team wrapped up competition at the SMU Invite, highlighted by senior
Alex Kalmar breaking his own school record in the men's outdoor 800m with a personal best time of 1:46.55.
Kalmar previously set the record last season at 1:46.86.
Two Mavericks also moved into UTA's all-time top five.
Emilia Mandl placed second and now ranks No. 4 in program history in the women's outdoor 800m, while
Dorcas Jepkosgei sits at No.5 all-time in the women's outdoor 1500m.
UTA saw multiple podium finishes throughout the day.
Angel Sanchez earned silver in the men's 1500m with a PR of 3:48.23.
Lucas Cano also earned second in the men's discus at 52.20m.
Simona Cabella (3.60m, women's pole vault),
Mateo Doherty (3:50.16 PR, men's 1500m),
Hayden Wilson (17.03m, men's shot put) and
Arieanna Mcpeak (12.55m, women's triple jump) each earned bronze medals on Saturday.
The Mavericks recorded over 10 personal-bests across the two-day meet.

NEXT UP
UTA will be off next week as they prepare to host the WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Maverick Stadium from Thursday, May 14 through Saturday, May 16.
