ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Tech defeated UT Arlington 16-4 on Saturday afternoon at Clay Gould Ballpark, taking the series opener. The Trailblazers scored two in the first and seven in the second to build a commanding lead and never looked back.
Hank Harp went 2-for-4 with two RBI to pace the Mavericks offensively, while
Harold Laracuente and
Xander McAfee each collected two hits. McAfee doubled in the fifth and reached base three times.
Zach Mazoch drove in a run with a single in the fifth inning.
Charlie Giese turned in three scoreless innings out of the bullpen for UTA.
PITCHING PROFILE
Kyle Winkler allowed five runs on five hits in 1.1 innings.
Nick Perry surrendered seven runs on eight hits in 2.2 innings.
