ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington Department of Athletics continued its unprecedented fundraising momentum during the 2025-26 fiscal year, setting a department fundraising record for the third consecutive year with nearly $5 million raised in support of Maverick student-athletes and programs.
The historic year featured several fundraising milestones, including the most gifts of $100,000 or more in department history and a record-breaking MavsDay total of $342,429. Since the 2022-23 fiscal year, UTA Athletics has increased its annual fundraising total by more than 800 percent, while major gift giving rose 72 percent from 2024-25 to 2025-26.
A major catalyst behind the record-setting year was a transformational commitment from former Maverick football standout and alumnus J. Ron Young ('67, History), who made a $2 million unrestricted pledge to UTA Athletics. The gift represents the largest unrestricted pledge in the history of the department.
The Maverick Club serves as the fundraising arm of UTA Athletics and provides critical support for student-athlete scholarships, facility enhancements and operational needs across the department's 15 varsity sports programs.
