Built in 1979, Maverick Stadium is a 12,000-seat multipurpose facility located on the University of Texas at Arlington campus, and serves as the home of the UT Arlington men's and women's track and field teams.
UTA track team members compete on a state-of-the-art, 400-meter Polytan USA track surface, while field event participants perform in the expansive land surrounding the stadium. Each March, UTA hosts the Bobby Lane Invitational to kick off the outdoor season. In 2013, Maverick Stadium was selected as the host site of the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Maverick Stadium features spacious locker rooms, meeting rooms and a weight room for UTA track and field athletes. In addition, coach's offices are in the adjacent Gilstrap Athletic Center. A large press box that also contains private suites sits above the west stands. Due to its prime location in the heart of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and its numerous amenities, Maverick Stadium is selected as the site of many high school and community events each year. The stadium annually hosts the University Interscholastic League's (UIL) Regional Track and Field Championships. In addition to hosting high school football games on its FieldTurf playing surface, Maverick Stadium has been host to numerous events such as: the Texas Special Olympics Summer Games, USATF Games, Arlington ISD High School football, Scottish Festival & Highland Games, Dean Corey Band Extravaganza (AISD), Greek Life Annual Bed Races and XFL professional football try-outs.
Additionally, Maverick Stadium has hosted Conference Tournaments since 1981. The Stadium was home to the Southland Conference Track & Field Meet from 1981-2010. In the lone year the Mavericks were in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), Maverick Stadium hosted the WAC Track & Field Meet. Most recently, the Sun Belt Conference held the 2017 Track & Field Meet at Maverick Stadium.
