Jamal Branch

Branch joined the UT Arlington women's basketball staff as an assistant coach in May 2026. A respected basketball coach who has trained professional players all the way to elementary athletes, Branch has built a reputation for developing complete players through advanced skill work, film study and mental performance training. 

Prior to joining UTA, Branch served as an assistant coach for the varsity girls basketball program at North Crowley beginning in 2024, helping lead the Panthers to back-to-back Regional Finals appearances. 

Before North Crowley, he spent 2020 to 2022 as an assistant coach for the boys basketball program at Atascocita High School, where he helped guide the Eagles to consecutive UIL State Semifinal appearances. 

Branch also coached with the Lady Hornets AAU program from 2022 to 2023.

The Fort Worth, Texas native also brings professional playing experience to the Mavericks. He competed internationally with Team USA during a basketball tour of China in 2019 and spent time in two NBA affiliated developmental leagues, playing for the Reno Bighorns (affiliated with the Sacramento Kings) and the Los Angeles Defenders (affiliated with the Los Angeles Lakers).

A former collegiate student-athlete, Branch earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from St. John's University, where he received a full athletic scholarship and earned Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognition. He began his collegiate career at Texas A&M, where he studied Agricultural Leadership and also competed on a full athletic scholarship.
