Joshua Henson

Bringing a strong background in athletic business operations and financial management, Henson was named Director of Business Operations – Procurement/Budget Strategy at UT Arlington Athletics in August 2025 after 7 months as Assistant Director of Business Operations and 2 months as Director of Business Operations - Travel.

Henson, a Dallas-area native, joined UTA from Texas A&M University–Commerce, where he served as Coordinator of Business Operations from February 2023 to November 2024.

In his role at UTA, Henson oversees all procurement and budget strategy for the athletics department, managing the full procurement lifecycle — including purchase orders, vendor contracts, formal bidding, and contract negotiations — while ensuring compliance with State, Federal, and NCAA regulations. He also assists the CFO and Assistant Athletic Director in preparing the annual NCAA report, EADA, and audit documentation.

Since arriving at UTA, Henson has driven significant cost optimization and operational improvements across the department, contributing to meaningful reductions in annual spending and greater budget efficiency. He has spearheaded several first-ever departmental initiatives, including UTA Athletics' inaugural scholarship reconciliation process, and co-led the department-wide rollout of the SAP Concur travel and expense platform.

Prior to his time with the Mavericks, Henson served as Coordinator of Business Operations at Texas A&M University–Commerce, where he managed day-to-day business operations including purchase orders, invoices, vendor contracts, and travel, while also helping the athletics program achieve over $1.3 million in total support from philanthropy, corporate partnerships, and ticket sales in FY2024.

Before stepping into collegiate athletics administration, Henson built a well-rounded foundation in professional sports. He spent nearly a year with the Dallas Mavericks as a Corporate Sponsorship Activation Intern, supporting the execution and management of corporate partner relationships and game-day activations. He also served as a Fan Engagement Specialist with FC Dallas, focused on building and enhancing the matchday experience and deepening connections between the club and its fanbase. Earlier in his career, he gained hands-on exposure to the business side of professional basketball as a Basketball Operations Intern with the Texas Legends of the NBA G League.

Henson is an active member of CABMA, where he serves on the Memberships Committee, and is a member of NACDA's Uncommon Sports Group. He has also served as a two-time panelist at the annual CABMA convention. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management with a minor in Business from Dallas Baptist University in 2021.
