Winget joined the UT Arlington track & field and cross country staff as an assistant coach in 2025, overseeing the program's long-distance and mid-distance groups.
Winget brings an extensive collegiate coaching experience to Arlington, most notably serving as the head coach at Long Beach State, where he guided his program to competitive success in both track & field and cross country. During his tenure, Long Beach State distance runners posted numerous top-10 program performances, conference honors, NCAA Regional qualifiers and NCAA Championship appearances.
Prior to Long Beach State, Winget spent five seasons at TCU as an assistant coach working with middle and long-distance runners and serving as cross country coach. During his time with the Horned Frogs, his athletes earned conference championships, NCAA qualifying spots, All-America honors and multiple regional accolades, while contributing to team conference titles.
Winget also served as head men's and women's cross country and Track & field coach at Northwood University, where he led programs to conference and regional championships and was named NAIA Regional Coach of the Year. His coaching resume additionally included stops at Baylor University, Ferris High School and Abilene Christian University.
