NATCHITOCHES, La. - Senior Melissa Robinett led The University of Texas at Arlington with a match-high 14 kills as the Mavericks swept Northwestern State (30-26, 30-17, 30-19) in Southland Conference volleyball action Tuesday evening.

UTA pushed ahead at 14-10 on an Elizabeth Davis kill, but the lead was short lived as Northwestern State used a 6-0 run to go ahead of the Mavs 16-14. The Mavericks battled back eventually tying the score at 25 on another Davis kill. UTA closed out the game with a 4-1 run fueled by Davis to take game one 30-26.

It was back-and-forth early in game two before UTA pushed ahead by five with a Caley Smith kill. The Mavericks dominated from that point on, building their lead to as many as 13. UTA used a .385 attack percentage to put the Lady Demons away 30-17 and take a two games to none lead into the break.

The Mavericks jumped to an early 9-1 lead in game three and never looked back. After leading by as many as 14 in the final game, UTA allowed the Lady Demons to pull within 11 before winning the game 30-19, and the match 3-0.

Joining Robinett in double figure kills was sophomore Stephanie Miklis (12) and junior Caley Smith (10). Freshman Ashley Smith led the defensive efforts for the Mavs with a match-high 13 digs, while sister Caley was right behind with 10. Junior setter Heather Dunn dished out 43 assists while also contributing four kills and two service aces.

Texas-Arlington returns to action Saturday as it heads to Sam Houston State to close out the regular season. The Mavericks and the Bearkats will face off at 7 p.m. in Huntsville.
