ARLINGTON, Texas...Sheena Johnson scored 12 points and hauled down 10 rebounds, but that was not enough as Louisiana-Monroe defeated Texas-Arlington 59-44 in a Southland Conference women's basketball game at Texas Hall in Arlington Friday night.
The loss dropped UTA to 15-12 overall and 13-7 in the SLC. ULM improved to 14-13 overall and 11-9 in league play.
Texas-Arlington led 30-27 at halftime, but would shoot just 14.3 percent (5-for-34) from the floor in the final 20 minutes as ULM used a 32-14 second half advantage to send the Lady Mavs reeling to their fourth consecutive loss.
UTA, which shot just 26.6 percent from the floor in the game, received 12 points and nine rebounds from Rola Ogunoye and 10 points from KaShayla Hawkins.
ULM was led by Christy Brown, who scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Michelle Biley, who scored 11 points.
The Lady Mavericks will travel to Southwest Texas to face the Bobcats at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night, March 11th in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament presented by Audiovox. UTA will enter the event with the No. 5 seed, while SWT will hold the No. 4 seed.
