ARLINGTON, Texas...The University of Texas at Arlington head baseball coach Jeff Curtis has announced the signing of Jeremiah Haar to a National Letter of Intent to attend the university and play baseball for the Mavericks beginning in the Fall of 2003. Haar joins Carey Avants and Ryan Nelson as the first three players to sign during the spring and join nine others who signed during the early signing period.
Haar, a 6-2, 175 pound pitcher, comes to UTA after earning first team all-district honors as a senior at Keller High School. This season, Haar owns a 6-0 record with a 1.44 ERA and one save. He has struck out 73 hitters in only 48 innings of work. As a junior, Haar played centerfield on the team that won district championship. He helped lead his team to an area championship as an infielder and outfielder his sophomore campaign. Haar also lettered at wide receiver and quarterback on the football field as a sophomore.
The Mavericks close out their 2003 home schedule Tuesday, May 6, as they host the Rams of Texas Wesleyan University. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Clay Gould Ballpark.
