ARLINGTON, Texas - Texas-Arlington's Autumn Petrino knocked a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Baylor dropped the Lady Mavs, 2-1, Tuesday evening at Allan Saxe Field. The Bears improve to 15-5 while the Lady Mavericks fall to 6-10-1 on the season.
UTA threatened in the first after back-to-back singles and a passed ball put runners on second and third with only one out, but Baylor starter Lisa Ferguson retired the next two batters.
After Kelly Osburn's solo home run in the fourth, Baylor was quiet until adding an insurance run in the top of the seventh on a RBI single from catcher Erin Sheek.
Petrino's home run, her first of the season, gave the Lady Mavs their only run of the day. The run was the first given up by BU's Ferguson in 25.0 innings.
Ferguson allowed only three hits as she earned her sixth win of the year.
Jill Garro (6-5) was tagged with the loss for UTA after tossing 7.0 complete and scattered eight hits.
Texas-Arlington will return to action tomorrow (Wednesday) when it plays host to Texas A&M for a 5 p.m. affair at Allan Saxe Field.
