MIDLAND, Texas - - Freshman Kyra Agosova opened the 2005 Midland Invitational with a pair of wins, including a three-set victory over Pepperdine's Eva Dicker, Friday at the Midland Tennis Racquet Club.

Agosova defeated Dicker 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 and followed that with a 6-2, 6-2 win voe erika Valdez to advance to Saturday's third round.

Monika Peciulionyte and Anete Rozalne were beaten in the opening round. In doubles, Rozkalne and Agosova were upended by the doubles team of Cigdem Duru and Samantha van der Drift of Texas Tech, 6-4.

In men's play, senior Sandy Farquharson advanced to the second round of the Midland Tennis Racquet Club Invitational with a 6-2, 6-2 win over SMU's Dario Kuczer Friday.

Farquharson teamed with partner Danile Omana for an 8-6 win over Rice's Ben Haerle and Filip Zivojinovic to stay in the winner's bracket for Saturday.

Next up for the squad is the ITA Regionals in College Station, Texas, Oct. 21-23.
